Today is the first day of my new workout routine. (I've started many Monday's saying that.) I'm really good at starting new workout routines. (I've even completed a few of them with much success, I might add.)
As long as I can remember, I worked out to simply look good for events. In high school, looking great for spring break and prom was extremely important. So I'd wake up early to bounce around doing the "20 Minute Workout" before school for a couple of weeks. And voila, I'd look great. During winter break in college, I'd go to the gym for a couple of days a week for 3 weeks. And once again, I'd return to campus in tip top shape. I've maintained this pattern of event-motivated workouts for nearly 20 years. (This routine has kept me looking pretty darn good for photo ops at many homecomings, weddings, vacations, etc...)
The problem with this sort of sporadic training is that when I did it in high school and college, I weighed somewhere between 125 & 135. At 5'6", I didn't have to do much to "get in shape". Now that I'm approaching 40 (and weigh 175), some of my old tricks are failing. Imagine that.
So I decided to actually find a real world lifetime system that'll work for me. A few years back, I used a six week program designed by James Villepigue & Hugo Rivera called The Body Sculpting Bible for Women
Wish me luck!!! Oh, and I'll post a posterior view sometime soon.
